2023
Another year full of changes, fortunately mostly positive ones. Right away in January we are building on our great experience with Spain in December and heading to Valencia to warm up a bit. I just can't resist cheap flights for too long :) We won't be celebrating Valentine's Day, but I'll tell Pepa one little surprise - there will be one more of us in autumn. If I ignore the nausea in the early months, I didn't even know how I got through the pregnancy. I was mainly occupied with Nina, but also with work and fitness + planning other trips. After all, it was clear that we were definitely not going to sit on our asses until the birth.
In March, we're "unwrapping" our Christmas present of a week in Jordan, where we'll catch many other awesome places besides the dream rock city of Petra. It would be perfect if I could enjoy the gastronomic experiences as much as I always do... Anyway. Then we run into a bigger problem at the beginning of May, when circumstances force us to cancel our long-planned trip to Colombia, which I wrote about in more detail here. In the context of the second trimester and the upcoming summer season, for which we are opting more for a car, I suspected that the only time we could still fly somewhere was NOW. So within a few hours, I replanned our vacation, bought new tickets, booked accommodation, arranged a rental car and we flew to Scotland for 8 days. I'm really proud of this feat in retrospect, it was awesome :)
For June we are arranging with our friends at least a few days in the Polish Giant Mountains, which will be a pleasant surprise, and then we will concentrate on the July holidays. As in previous years, we use them for another trip, this time returning to my beloved Dolomites, where we are most excited about the mountain pasture of Alpe di Siusi. In August our travels are limited by the kitchen renovation and in September by the impending due date. However, we will still manage to make the wedding... and even ours! Neither of us desire any pomp and circumstance and playing at something we are not, so we will just say our "I do's" with the witnesses, have a celebratory brunch and announce it to the family the next day via whatsapp message. Satisfaction for us.
Our last trip, subtitled "Weekend for Doughnut", is spent in Nuremberg, where Nina is still enjoying our attention as an only child. 14 days later we are joined by our newest travel partner - Jonah. This opens a whole new chapter of traveling, and I'm curious to see how it goes... or doesn't go, which of course I don't want to admit yet. However, the reality will be revealed in 2024 :)
