2022

prosince 31, 2022

Finally, another travel year to my liking, without the coronavirus, as it were. Or at least it was possible to choose a destination where there were no big restrictions. One big JUCH! As for our personal life, it was a bit hectic. Sometime at the beginning of the year, I got the impression that even with Kobliha, the blog, and hours at the gym, I was still catching up on too many Netflix episodes of everything. Somehow I felt sorry for the lost time, so I applied for a job as a producer for the cultural magazine Žurnal in Pilsen. And it worked! :) Of course, many people were knocking on my forehead if I was crazy, but I was very happy for this opportunity. The second big thing that was a big deal this year was moving, accompanied by a very lengthy bureaucracy. Thank goodness that's behind us now. Anyway, we are still loyal to Pilsen, we just changed the neighborhood and the size of the apartment. So, that's our changes in a nutshell, and now what we managed to see during the year...

We ticked off our first flight in January, when we spent a few days in Bordeaux and its surroundings. In March, finally, after several years of postponement, it's Madeira. It's not quite the babyfriendly destination, but we leave this island absolutely thrilled. For May, I dreamed of doing the beautiful Lausanne Valley Trail, which turned out to be total crap with the carriage, but it was actually pretty cool nonetheless. July sees some hill climbs again, with a bet on a tried and tested classic in the form of Berchtesgaden. Oh, and to take advantage of the low price of a long-haul ticket for a child under two, I planned a slightly bigger trip - to Mexico. Leaving aside the initial peripeties with cancelled flights, the rest of the holiday was simply and simply divine. In October, we're still lucky enough to get our last glimpses of good weather in Austria, where we'll throw in some hiking at Lake Achansee and in the Zillertal Alps. For my last holiday destination this year I choose Seville, Spain. We may not have warmed up to our liking, but thanks to the city's sightseeing and sampling of all sorts of things, at least we got a break from the classic pre-Christmas hustle and bustle.

Of course, Doughnut also took part in all the trips and I have to say that (not only) travelling with her is better and better... and with her growing vocabulary, funnier too. I really enjoy watching her grow into a travel buddy, how she enjoys it, comments and notices things that maybe we adults don't really notice that much anymore. Well, we'll see what we can show you next year Nina, something is already shaping up :)
